Lead Artist

Kerbal Space Program is looking for a talented Lead Artist to join our international team. In this role, you will be driving the visual direction of the game, while managing, mentoring and working with the art team to deliver top quality assets that are consistent with the game’s universe.
Responsibilities

    Define and establish artistic benchmarks assets and workflows for other artists to follow.
  • Work with the production team to ensure schedules are reasonable and deliveries met on time.
  • Provide regular feedback and adjustments on delivered materials for the on-site, off-site and outsourced art team.
  • Communicate effectively with other leads and team members to meet and maintain the project objectives through development.
  • Guard the consistency and integration of newly generated assets within the game universe.
  • Generate and maintain documentation regarding designs, workflows, and KSP practices.
  • Hands-on creation and maintenance of varied 3D assets.
  • Troubleshoot problematic game assets or practices.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in the game industry with at least 1 game released as a Lead.
  • An outstanding portfolio demonstrating your work for previous games.
  • Demonstrable experience with hard surface modeling and texturing.
  • Expert knowledge of Maya and Photoshop (or comparable software).
  • Understanding of particle systems, shaders and post-processing effects.
  • Experience with Unity (or comparable engine).
  • Able to conceptualize and provide direction on rendered still images and animated videos.
  • Knowledgeable of rigging, skinning, and exporting animations to be used in game.

Nice to Have Skills

  • Fluent English language skills.
  • Ability to produce concept art for environments and vehicles.
  • Experience working in an Agile development environment.
  • Coding skills.
  • KSP player and/or a space enthusiast.

 

 

Senior Developer

Kerbal Space Program is looking for Senior Game Engineers to join our international development
team. In this role, you will work closely with other programmers, as well as designers, artists, and
others to bring new features and content to life. You will have the opportunity to contribute to
core parts of the game and solve complex problems for our players.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with local and remote team members
  • Write and test quality C#/C++ code
  • Investigate and solve issues reported by internal testers and public forums
  • Assist and mentor junior engineers
  • Participate and provide feedback in feature discussions as desired

Requirements

  • Strong Math knowledge
  • Experience in the following coding languages: C++ / C#, GLSL / HLSL
  • Experience in either Unity Engine, Unreal Engine or CryEngine
  • Experience in Version Control Software
  • Collaborator, organized, and with a passion for video games
  • Proven experience in the video game Industry
  • Speaks fluent Spanish and advanced English
  • Preferably knowledgeable in the following areas: graphics, physics, animation, shaders, UI
  • Bachelor level studies in a computer science related field or equivalent work experience

 

 

Senior Game Designer

Kerbal Space Program is looking for a Senior Game Designer to join our international development team. In this role, you will work together with others to define the direction of releases, bring new features and content to the game, and build awesome experiences for new and experienced players alike. The designer is part of the core IP team, making sure everything is consistent with the spirit of KSP – with maybe some surprise thrown in for good measure. This individual must have a passion for Kerbal Space Program, be able to work effectively in a distributed team, provide and receive feedback in a constructive manner, and be organized and self-motivated.

Responsibilities

  • Design fun and challenging gameplay ideas for our audience
  • Create, document, maintain and communicate every aspect of the game view
  • Oversee all elements of gameplay, story, characters, game mechanics and level design
  • Collaborate with teams from all disciplines to implement new features and UI changes
  • Balance and tune gameplay features based on feedback from the team and players

Requirements

  • Passion for video games
  • Demonstrated effectiveness working in teams, self-motivated
  • Advanced English (written and spoken)
  • 3 years of experience in the video game industry including public release of personal or commercial projects
  • Ability to prototype new ideas in Unity, or proven work in another engine and capability for quick learning

Nice to Have Skills

  • Knowledge of coding language a plus but not required
  • Experience creating mods for KSP or other games
  • Scriptwriting a plus but not required
  • Coursework in a computer science related field or equivalent experience
